TL-0052
The Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training provides staff with decision-making skills to match their level of response to the risk of the crisis, focusing on the least-restrictive response to ensure the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ of the students in their care. This includes recognizing the stages of an escalating crisis and learning evidence-based techniques to appropriately de-escalate students. NCI training emphasizes physical intervention as a last resort and appropriate to the level of risk.
This one-day certification renewal class is designed for Special Education staff (teachers and TAs), LSS staff, school administrators, and school crisis team members. If you do not work in one of these roles, you must have permission from your supervisor to participate in this class.
Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00.
Lunch is on your own.
Bring a device (e.g., laptop,
Chromebook, or smartphone).
Note: The Special Education Division does not provide substitutes for CPI training. Work with your school administration to arrange coverage if it is needed.
