The Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training provides staff with decision-making skills to match their level of response to the risk of the crisis, focusing on the least-restrictive response to ensure the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ of the students in their care. This includes recognizing the stages of an escalating crisis and learning evidence-based techniques to appropriately de-escalate. NCI training emphasizes physical intervention as a last resort and appropriate to the level of risk. The renewal NCI training is a one-day course. To enhance the safety of participants during the pandemic, the course will be taught through a hybrid model, with the didactic portion of the course provided virtually and the physical interventions taught face-to-face. During face-to-face learning, when contact with others is necessary for teaching and practicing, safety guidelines set forth by the district will be practiced and contact with others will be limited as much as possible and to the fewest number of people possible. This class is designed for Special Education staff (teachers and TAs), LSS staff, and school administrators. If you do not work in one of these roles, you must have permission from your supervisor to participate in this class. Hybrid training: 8:00 AM - 12:00: virtual. 12:00 - 4:00: F2F R2i2 Low Country. A mid-day break will be provided for lunch and travel. Class code zev25gd Meet link https://meet.google.com/lookup/exkyhqyye7 Grade Level: N/A More
